Residential Dumpsters
Our company goal here at XL Dumpster Rentals is to have the best selection of dumpsters and to offer you a way to get the most out of our rental plans. First off, We want to thank you for renting from us. Our families absolutely are blessed because of you. Please don’t minimize our appreciation. We try to give the very best service at very competitive rates for all the services we do. Let’s break down the dumpsters we rent and what one might be the best for you.
As noted on the home page, they are all different sizes.
The 7-Yard Dumpster can handle all the heaviest items that you can dish out. It is a heavily built dumpster. Don’t let the size trick you. The 7 Yard is great for hand and machine loading. If you have a front end loader, this works well as the sides are just over 2ft tall. Why would we have a dumpster this low?
We have it as a concrete dumpster rental and a dirt dumpster rental. Did you know that concrete weighs around 2 tons per yard. Essentially 7the 7-yard lowboy will hold 14,000Lbs. load it with: Dirt, Concrete, Bricks, Rocks, Sod, Metal… anything heavy. These are dedicated Dirt dumpster and concrete dumpster, and can hold the heaviest of products such as bricks, stone, rocks etc. Did you know, We will dump any clean dirt or any clean concrete that has been broken down to 18” x 18” sizes for a discounted rate. Every day and all day.
The 15-Yard Dumpster is a great size for single room remodels. It holds a lot, it is affordable and is durable. You should not need to worry about the rental dumpster not being able to hold what you can put in it. We have restrictions on what you can put in our dumpsters due to codes and regulations.
Many landfills do not allow disposal of liquids and so we have a “solid” NO LIQUID policy. This includes paints and other flammable liquids. If you cause a fire, it puts the dumpster at risk and your fire damages your home. We offer a damage coverage policy, however it does not cover negligence or fire.
It is for everyday damages and scratches. If you machine load a tree stump and drop it into the dumpster, it may damage the Dumpster Container. This is considered negligence. The 15-Yard holds around 7.5 pick up truck loads of most anything. This Dumpster is not meant for Concrete, Rocks, Bricks, Sod, Dirt. You COULD overload this dumpster very easily. This will hold nearly 28,000Lbs which is more than what the bin is engineered to hold. By a lot.
Just don’t do it and we will all be happy. What is the worst is telling the customer they need to rent an additional dumpster and also need to unload the dumpster because it is too heavy or loaded the dumpster over the top rails. All of our dumpers can handle around 6 tons of materials.
The 20-Yard is our most versatile dumpster. It is big enough for most home remodels and is short enough to fit most anywhere. A 20-Yard dumpster holds around 10 truck loads of debris. This again is not for Concrete, Rocks, Sod, Dirt, Rocks or any other heavy items. We rent more 20-Yard Dumpsters than any other dumpster.
This is one of our favorites as it fits so well in driveways and we take pride to keep them looking great. We don’t want to have you use an ugly dumpster, please help us keep them looking great.
The 25-Yard dumpster is very versatile for bulky loads. This holds a lot of tree branches, job site debris and other general waste. Great for anyone not doing gravel or shingle roofs… depending
The 30- and 40-Yard dumpsters are not good for residential customer jobs. All honesty they are too big for most commercial jobs also. They are way longer and usually way taller and just not for home owners.
WHAT KIND OF MATERIALS ARE YOU DISPOSING in residential dumpsters ?
- Household Items
- Construction Debris (Wood, Asphalt Shingles, Drywall, Mulch and Landscaping Materials)
- Yard Waste
- Roofing Materials
- Concrete
- Brick/Block
- Dirt
- Insulation
- Other
These are all items we can dispose of, and it is important to know what your doing so we can get it to the proper landfill or waste reclamation facility to recycle.
Many customers need to have solid waste that goes to a transfer station for recycling or re-purpose. We value your needs and many times, especially with clean concrete (without rebar or dirt), we can get those items processed for far less than household waste.
Do’s and Don’t of Renting the dumpster
First lets focus on the positive list:
Read the rental contract. It is located on the Terms and Conditions page at the bottom of every website page.
Load the dumpster at the furthest end away from the door. If the door area get filled first you may not have access to load the dumpster because you will be forced to lock the doors.
Load soft items at the bottom. They will compact under the heavier items. This is so true about items like mattresses. Just know, let us know if you have mattresses as many landfills will not accept them. If we know about them, we can plan around this for a minimal charge. IF YOU HAVE ITEMS ON THE PROHIBITED LIST PLEASE CALL US. SOME ITEMS WE CAN ACCEPT IF WE KNOW THEY ARE BEING DISPOSED INTO THE ROLL OFF DUMPSTER. Otherwise you will have unexpected additional charges.
Prep the delivery area prior to dumpster delivery, as dumpster rentals get very heavy and can damage the ground and anything under them, including water pipes and electrical. We need about 14Ft to unload the dumpster due to getting them off our trucks.
If there are tree branches above the unloading area, they must be trimmed and out of the way. XL Dumpster Rentals is not responsible for damages to trees, driveways, plumbing, curbing or driveway surfaces, and our dumpster rentals are at your own risk. See the rental contract or the Terms and Conditions page for more details.
Always lock the door when not in use. Safety is priority. The doors create a very heavy pinch point. Watch your fingers and protect others.
Now for the Don’ts (the negatives):
Don’t move the dumper with machinery. We will move the dumper while it is rented. We charge a fee, but it won’t cause damages where machinery will cause damages usually to hook points or wheels which can make it so we can’t load the dumpsters once filled.
Don’t overload the dumpster. Read the Terms and Conditions (also known as the Rental Contract) the dumpsters can’t be loaded over the top rail. We must tarp and cover all loads that go down the highways and roads per State and Federal Regulation. If the load is not below the top[ of the rental dumpster, we may not be able to move the container and it will increase the cost as we may need to bill for an additional dumpster and add additional fees.
This cost is fully transferable to you as the client. If we must hand tarp the dumpster and or must move items so it can be tarped, we will bill for this.
At our drivers’ request, you may be required to order an additional dumpster and transfer some of the load to the additional dumpster. If you think your going to over our limits, let us know ASAP and that way you can order a second dumpster.
- Don’t add Hazardous Waste to the dumpster. We do not accept any Hazardous Waste. Read the Terms and Conditions for prohibited items.
- Don’t allow your kids to play in or around the dumpsters. Be safe. Be aware of whom is around the dumpsters and your job site.
- Don’t block the dumpsters. We need to always have access to them.

If we find these items in the Dumpster Rental we will charge the customer an additional Fee. By letting us know how many you want to dispose of, we can itemize them saving you substantially.
Other Items that we can plan for: Clean Concrete, Dirt, Bricks, Sod, Gravel, and other heavy items. These are items we have issues with, these items add a lot of weight fast.

How Our Pricing Works
DUMPSTER RENTAL “HIDDEN CHARGES”
We charge a rental fee for the use of the bin up front, Tonnage Fee for the disposal of the waste being disposed, and a fuel surcharge. The biggest unknown when renting a dumpster is the weight of the dumpster rental. The only way to calculate that cost are to find out how heavy the load is inside the dumpster.
That is it… That is all of what we charge as long as the Customer follows the guidelines of XL Dumpster Rentals .Com and highway regulations for tarping and disposal.
We have strict guidelines we must follow and we ask you do also. Please read the notices on the dumpster and the Terms and Conditions Contract to what you can dispose of and what is prohibited. Our goal is a long-term relationship with our customers.
We also offer a few optional Charges:
Damage Protection Fee: Damage Waiver Fee is an optional fee to cover damages caused by general use but this does not cover abuse. Like insurance. It is to reduce the customer risk from damages to the dumpster or equipment rental while the item is rented. This does not cover neglect, abuse, or unforeseen damages to the equipment.
It protects CUSTOMERS liability against graffiti, exterior scratches, or the like from general use. Fire Damage, Floor damages from heavy items and wheel damages are not included as part of the Damage Waver Fee and will be covered by the Customer.
Cancelation Insurance Fee: This allows you to be refunded if there is any reason for a change.no questions asked, just canceled or moved to another date. ![]()
Driveway Protection Fee: This is an optional Charge at the customers request to add protection under the wheels of the dumper to avoid damages to the surface of concrete or grass where the the dumpster is specified for placement.
We have specific panels we 0place under the roller wheels to be a sacrificial plastic so the metal wheels do not touch the ground where they have high likelihood of scratching the surface.
Expedited Delivery Fee: If you need the dumpster by a specific time we can accommodate your needs. We will have your dumpster delivered by a requested time on the day of delivery. Otherwise we will get it delivered on the day requested but we do not guarantee those times as all orders are first come , first serve.
Emergency Services Fee: If your are emergency personnel or a Tow Company we ant to help you in a emergency situation. When we have to drop all other jobs to serve you we charge extra for that service, but we are happy to do so. we have the needed equipment such as mini skid steers, front end loaders and hook lift dumpsters to get the job completed. We charge for the service, but we can get you dialed in.
What about weight or solid waste: yes weight matters Most of our Dumpsters have a weight capacity of around 8,000-10,000 lbs. max capacity. Can we lift more? Sure we can, the equipment can handle it.
It is the regulations that limit the tonnage we haul. We find that we can save cost by not needing a higher Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVW) vehicle. If you know your load is going to be heavy we will plan accordingly.
We don’t really believe in hidden charges. The reason is you need to know what items will end up causing you additional fees. XL Dumpster Rentals .com wants to make it so you can avoid Additional Fees and Charges, so here are some of the most common.
We also expect and request that you read the fine print called the ”Terms and Conditions” prior to renting a dumpster and the notices on the dumpsters.
Dry Run Fee: This is when you order a dumpster rental in our service area and we either can’t deliver the dumpster rental as scheduled, or pick up the dumpster rental as scheduled; causing us to have a wasted trip trying to fullfil our responsibilities.
This happens more than any other issues and it’s totally solvable by not blocking the container or the driver had driven to location for a task but can’t complete it. Most common causes are: blocked access, overloaded above the Maximum Fill line on the dumpster which can cause our tarping system to become damaged or broken.
We must tarp all loads per State Regulations, or we are not in compliance with the codes and regulations set by government.
Extended Container Use: This charge is when you rent a dumpster for example, 7 days. After the 7 days you decide you need it for 2 more days. This will cause you to not only be billed for the 7 days at the 7 day discounted rate, but you will be charged for two additional days at the standard single day rate.
Same would apply if you rented a rental dumpster for 30 days. If at 37 days you request the pick up you will automatically be billed for the 30 days and a 7 day rental.
We do not mind if you want extra rental time. The CUSTOMER is expected to let XL Dumpster Rentals .Com know when a dumpster needs picked-up or needs a empty and swap-out.
Container Relocation: This is when we place a dumpster container in a specific location and later you want to change locations. We ask customers not to move the rental containers using equipment or pick up truck. Would it work? Possibly, but it risks damages to the containers. We detail this in the contract that XLDumpsterRentals.Com is the only one authorized to move the Rental Dumpsters, as we have the proper equipment.
Another reason is that if you move the can to a spot that we cant access with our equipment, once loaded would be very difficult to move. Often times we have seen customers move the rental bins to uneven or unstable terrain which once loaded will warp the dumpster so the door will not open or close properly, and may make it so our trucks can’t access it when loaded. This will bring us into the next item…
Repair Charges: Damaged Rental garbage cans and dumpsters requiring Welding or parts replacement due to mis-use, overloading, or damages that could have been mitigated but were caused by the customers misuse will be billed at no less than $175 Per hour plus any parts needed to bring the bin back to a proper working condition.
We want our rental customers to be save with equipment that is safe for them and any sub-contractors, their clients, their families or whomever uses the rental dumpsters. When repairs are needed due to customer neglect, we also lose use of our equipment rentals causing yet another fee…
Loss of Use Fee: This charge is to cover the loss of income due to the neglect or misuse, or abuse. We use our Rental bins in our business to make money. If a dumpster or other equipment gets damaged and we can’t use it we still need to be paid. Our team and Customers are relying on the work. Every day the equipment if out of service we charge the standard daily rate while the equipment is in the repair shop until it is fully repaired or replaced.
Often parts are delayed or made only for our equipment. We have seen parts delays and shop delays over 30 days. We ask our customer to make sure they have the needed coverage to protect them during the dumpster or equipment rental, just like car insurance, be protected by purchasing Damage and Fire Protection Waver Fee protects against damages caused by use but this does not cover abuse.
Damage and Fire Protection Waiver Fee: This is like insurance. It is to protect the customer from damages to the container rental, dumpster rental or equipment rental while the item is rented. This does not cover neglect, abuse, or unforeseen damages to the equipment.
If you scratch the side of our Garbage cans, dumpster rentals, or equipment while moving or tossing out the trash, you will be covered. If you warp the doors due to moving the roll off dumpster to an area that XLDumpsterRentals.com did not authorize, you are on your own and will not be protected. Use caution and safe waste removal Practices. This is an up-charge only
Driveway Surface Protection: This is for the use of either Wood or plastic protectors designed to allow the dumpster to slide separate from the driveway. Our surface skates are designed to allow a sacrificial plastic to keep the hard metal wheels from contacting the ground. This wears out the plastic instead of the concrete surface. This is an up-charge only
Cancelation insurance: Often issues arise unexpectedly. We offer this insurance to avoid a loss of the full cost of the rental. If you chose not to add this insurance, we will not reimburse the dumpster rental, even if it is your moms-sons birthday and they are in the hospital on their death bed. Ha Ha. This is an Up-Charge Only.
Contamination Fee: If anyone puts any hazardous waste in the rentals dumpster, and we find it or the land fill disposal company or governing official, you will be charged an addition fee of no less than $100 plus any fines and fees received.
If you put hazardous waste, non-inert debris (trash) with inert materials like dirt, concrete, gravel or asphalt we often will not be able to dump the waste in the standard disposal sites and will be forced by our vendors to use an alternative site to dispose of the waste or otherwise recyclable items.
This will add to the cost of emptying the dumpster. We want your solid waste and recyclable business but the state and counties have their standards they place on use are Waste Haulers.
Special Handling Fee: Special handling is a term used but it is any time we need to do task that should have been addressed prior to us arriving to take the dumpster away from your facility or site. Examples are, but not limited to: leveling the loaded dumpster, removing items from the dumpster prior to covering the load, shoveling snow, moving obects blocking the dumpster, finding people to move vehicles that block our access (we need at a minimum of 10 ft on each side of the Dumpster for safe and proper access, or a determined amount as per our drivers request).
Mattress, box spring, tires, paint cans, batteries, tv’s, refrigerators, any other appliance containing or has contained Freon or equivalent disposal risks a special handling fee, due to the extra time to dispose of the items.
Often the facilities we dispose at will force us to exit with these items and either re-enter (at an additional charge) or to go to a separate facility to unload. This can get costly when you considering drivers wages and related cost, equipment use, fuel, travel time, and gate and disposal fees.
It is often less costly to load those items in a separate dumpster for disposal. This requires the customer to contact us and have us bring out a separate dumpster rental for this purpose. We charge no less than $50 plus milage at $5.00 per mile to dispose of these items or separately repack them for later disposal.
Again, we are transport items to the dump, or other places designed for waste, we are not movers or handymen tasked to move your garbage within the dumpster (or outside the dumpster. A complete list of Fees are available on the Rental Contract Terms and Conditions.
